This cave led them down a long path to a beautiful room that they called the Rainbow Room. Together with Jim's little sister Jenny, the three of them found a cave near their home and went exploring. Jim Hawkins and Garth Plimpton were best friends growing up around Cody, Wyoming. Haven't heard of the Tennis Shoes Adventure Series? Let me briefly explain. In fact, the whole series feels like one long book and at the conclusion of Sorcerers and Seers, I became immediately excited for books 12 and 13 that Chris Heimerdinger will have coming up soon. The book at hand that I just finished is book 11 of the series called Sorcerers and Seers and it is just as good as any of the previous 10. They are characters that are so well written that I feel a true attachment to them as if they were my neighbors across the street growing up. I first picked up the books when I was a young teenager (or maybe earlier) and now as an adult I still enjoy travelling back in time with these characters. The first book in the series, Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites, came to the world in the same year that I did, so you can literally say that I grew up with this series. However, there are some series' that do a great job a sucking me into them and one of those long-standing series' is the Tennis Shoes Adventure Series. It's not often that I do book reviews on this blog because it's not often I dive into books. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Hide kiersten whiteOstensibly, Hide is about 14 young adults, with varying degrees of trauma seemingly sown deep into their DNA – it’s not a requirement for being selected but it seems to be something they unfortunately share in common – who are transported to the middle of American nowhere to compete for a prize of fifty thousand dollars.Īll these reality show aspirants have to do, their motivations as divergent as their backgrounds and personalities, is be the last one standing after seven days, a feat they pull off by being the best hider in a hide-and-seek competition which sees two competitors eliminated every day. No matter what the threat is or what destructive horror it might bring to bear, it always seems to be people who are the scary ingredients in any terror cocktail, whether it’s battling aliens, facing off zombie hordes or even dealing with a rogue giant shark, and Kiersten White, who admits in her acknowledgements that she is “not at all sorry that I keep writing things she has to read with all the lights on”, runs with that observation to a fiendishly unnerving degree in Hide, which like its setting, is not at all what it first seems to be. It’s a truism long observed that humanity is often the biggest monster at any given table. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Cosmos carl sagan book"Sagan dazzles the mind with the miracle of our survival, framed by the stately galaxies of space. shimmers with a sense of wonder." - The Miami Herald "Brilliant in its scope and provocative in its suggestions. She resumed work in 2007 with the fourth installment of Harlem Beat wa Yoake Made. Takashima decided to go on hiatus, leaving all of her series unfinished. The judge threw out the case (resulting in Takashima losing). The lawsuit was founded on Takashima's belief that Kayono had directly traced over her work Wild Rock, and used it for her own manga. She filed a lawsuit against Kayono in 2004. Since then she has published roughly nine distinctive titles through various publishing companies and has been the illustrator of a number of light novels by various authors including Gou Shiira, Jinko Kitazawa and Kana Sarasa. In that same year she got Wild Rock published by Biblos (it went straight to manga form not serialized). After that, she went on to make another of her well-known series: Last Client which was serialized in Biblos's BexBoy Magazine in 2002. After a well received debut, the company decided to publish the series into an actual volume. Her works were predominantly BL-related.įinally she got her break when her first original series, Harlem Beat wa Yoake Made was serialized in Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka. Born in Hokkaido on October 23, She began her career in 1999 as a Houshin Engi doujinshi artist as well as doing fanart from popular series like Hikaru no Go, Shaman King and Yami no Matsuei. In an evocative tale that brings the Italian Renaissance gloriously to life, following a seemingly unrelated trail of clues-a name whispered in the marketplace by a hooded monk, a secret message painted by Sandro Botticelli on the wall of the Vespucci family church-Guid'Antonio and Amerigo chase across Florence to the workshops of Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli, to churches where frescoes seem to fly off the walls, from Florence to the village where the girl disappeared, and, finally, to the hilltop of Vinci itself. Faced with losing control of the city, Lorenzo enlists Guid'Antonio, his friend and staunch political ally, to investigate the tears. Angry and fearful Florentines interpret these stunning events as signs of God's wrath for their support of the city's leader, Lorenzo de' Medici, and Lorenzo's refusal to end his war with the Pope. Equally disturbing, a revered painting of the Virgin Mary is weeping in Guid'Antonio's family church. Marauding Turks have abducted a beautiful young girl and sold her into slavery. The year is 1480, and celebrated Florentine lawyer Guid'Antonio Vespucci and his nephew, Amerigo, return home to Italy from a government mission to find their dreams of peace shattered. |
